Christmas Message 2017

12/2017 Christmas Message Dear Students, This year has been a year that has seen many things change. It has seen our government change presidents. We have seen many of friends and relatives pass and leave us here to experience life without them. It has also brought us new faces and students into our lives to brighten our days. We have seen many students change ranks within our school and we have visited other Aikido schools that show us a different look at how we see Aikido. We may even see ourselves practicing in a new location next year. All of these things challenge us and test our resolve to survive. From the position of chief instructor I not only have the privilege of being involved with all of this but I also have the responsibility to persevere in order to keep things moving forward. All of our lives can be looked at in this fashion. To be the Sensei in our own lives. To lead and to hold steady that which may be unsteady. I meet a lot of people in Aikido as well as during my work week as I travel. How can one keep things going with all of these challenges you may ask, well… it’s not easy. Yes, that’s right, it’s not easy. No magic potion or special enlightenment is going to make anything any easier than what they are for you, me, anyone. But you need focus on your accomplishments in life and things and people who are important to you and keep them close to you for as long as you can. It can be best said, “Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship.” –BUDDHA- In closing I want to thank all of the Black Belts and students of the dojo for all of their hard work and dedication to making the dojo succesful. I am looking forward to another great year for North Coast Aikikai whatever the New Year brings... Have a wonderful Christmas and a Healthy New Year! -Sensei- North Coast
